In this blog, we’re going to look at two of the most popular launch monitors on the market: the FlightScope Mevo Gen 2 and the Rapsodo MLM2PRO.
Both provide accurate data across a wide range of metrics, alongside video feedback, simulator play, and additional features designed to help you practise and improve.
But despite these similarities, each device works very differently. So how do you know which one is right for you?
Comparison points
We’ve broken things down into key categories and scored each one – 1 point for a winner, 0.5 points each for a draw. The categories we looked at are:
- Price
- Set-up & usability
- Video
- Accuracy & metrics
- Simulator play & ecosystem
- App experience & features
- Battery life
Let’s see how they stack up overall.
Price
Mevo Gen 2:
- £1,199.00 with no additional subscription needed.
MLM2PRO:
- £649.00 + subscription: £165.99 for 1 year, £269.99 for 2 years, or £499.99 for a lifetime membership.
Summary:
The Mevo Gen 2 costs more up-front, but all features are included at this price, and you won’t have to pay any additional subscription fees. The MLM2PRO might seem like the most cost-effective option, but without the membership, its features are limited. To get the most from the device, you’re going to need a subscription.
With the lifetime membership, the MLM2PRO works out slightly cheaper overall than the Mevo Gen 2. However, choosing annual fees can make it more expensive in the long run. On balance, the pricing evens out, so we’ll score this a draw and give half a point to each device.
Score:
- Mevo Gen 2: 0.5
- MLM2PRO: 0.5
Set-up and usability
Mevo Gen 2
- Takes a few minutes to set up and requires a bit more precision in alignment than the MLM2PRO.
- Space sensitive – you’ll need around 8 feet between the unit and ball and, if you're inside, a minimum of 8 feet between the ball and the screen or net.
- Slightly heavier than the MLM2PRO.
MLM2PRO
- Quicker to set up than the Mevo Gen 2. Plus, the alignment is more forgiving, making it more beginner-friendly.
- Also space sensitive, but requires slightly less space than the Mevo Gen 2.
- More lightweight and portable than the Mevo Gen 2.
Summary:
The MLM2PRO is lighter and easier to set up, particularly for less experienced golf tech users.
Score:
- Mevo Gen 2: 0.5
- MLM2PRO: 1.5
Video
Mevo Gen 2
- Has a built-in camera, so it can record swing video on its own – no phone or tablet needed.
- FlightScope Shot Tracer automatically captures every shot with a 3D ball flight overlay and your selected data points layered on top, giving you a TV broadcast-style view of each swing.
- Supports FS Multicam if you want to add extra angles via phone or tablet for lessons or deeper review.
MLM2PRO
- Camera built into the device.
- Shot Vision and Impact Vision features mean you can see both full swing videos and slow-motion close-ups of impact.
- Videos are automatically saved with key data overlays, and you can store up to 10,000 recordings within the app.
Summary:
Both devices have built-in cameras and both deliver solid video tools, so the gap here is smaller than it first looks. The Mevo Gen 2's Shot Tracer is excellent for seeing full ball flight overlaid on your swing – it's particularly useful outdoors when you want to review shape and trajectory.
Where the MLM2PRO edges ahead is in the depth of its video setup. Multiple angles, slow motion, impact replays, and storage for up to 10,000 videos in the app make it the more complete package for serious review and swing analysis. MLM2PRO wins, but by a narrower margin than a straight reading of the feature list suggests.
Score:
- Mevo Gen 2: 0.5
- MLM2PRO: 2.5
Accuracy & metrics
Mevo Gen 2
- Delivers reliable ball-tracking data by combining radar with camera-based analysis through FlightScope’s patented Fusion Tracking Technology. This merges 3D Doppler radar with image processing to give tour-grade accuracy.
- Directly measures 18 ball and club parameters out of the box:
- Carry Distance, Roll Distance, Total Distance, Ball Speed, Club Speed, Smash Factor, Vertical Launch Angle, Horizontal Launch Angle, Spin Rate, Spin Axis, Apex Height, Flight Time, Lateral Landing, Angle of Attack, Shot Type, Launch Speed, and Ball Direction.
- You can also upgrade to the Pro Package and Face Impact Location bundle for more metrics, including Face to Path, Face to Target, Dynamic Loft, Club Path, Vertical Swing Plane, Horizontal Swing Plane, Low Point, Vertical Descent Angle, Curve, Club Speed Profile, and Club Acceleration Profile.
MLM2PRO
- Measures 15 ball and club parameters, but some are behind the subscription paywall.
- These include Total Distance, Carry Distance, Side Carry, Ball Speed, Launch Direction, Club Speed, Smash Factor, Launch Angle, Descent Angle, Shot Apex, Shot Type, Spin Rate, Spin Axis, Club Path, and Angle of Attack.
- Directly measures Club Path and Angle of Attack, which are great features, as very few devices at this price can measure those metrics correctly.
- However, only 8 of the 15 are measured directly – the other 7 are calculated based on those 8 core readings.
Summary:
With better accuracy and more data points available, the Mevo Gen 2 wins this one. That said, the MLM2PRO’s inclusion of Club Path and Angle of Attack at this price level is impressive, although you’ll need a subscription to get full access to all metrics.
Score:
- Mevo Gen 2: 1.5
- MLM2PRO: 2.5
Simulator play & ecosystem
Mevo Gen 2
- Comes with a lifetime E6 Connect 8 Course bundle for iOS and PC with no subscription required.
- Full compatibility with GSPro, Awesome Golf, and other third-party simulator software at no extra cost.
MLM2PRO
- With premium membership, you unlock Rapsodo Courses, the brand’s own simulator with more than 30,000 courses.
- Premium membership is also compatible with third-party simulator software.
Summary:
The Mevo Gen 2 offers stronger out-of-the-box simulator value with no ongoing costs, while many of the MLM2PRO’s best simulator features sit behind a subscription paywall.
Score:
- Mevo Gen 2: 2.5
- MLM2PRO: 2.5
App experience & features
Mevo Gen 2
- FS Golf app is reliable and highly customisable, making it great for organising and reviewing data.
- More focused towards professionals.
MLM2PRO
- Comes with gamified practice tools that make it great for golfers who want guidance, not just raw data.
- Rapsodo Combine is an award-winning, gamified practice experience that gives you a handicap score and practice recommendations.
- Insights explain your performance and tell you what to work on.
- R-Speed is a non-impact swing speed training platform.
- The app is more consumer-friendly than pro-level, although it only allows you to view three or four metrics at once in practice mode.
Summary:
The Mevo Gen 2 is better suited to golfers who want full control over their data and enjoy analysing performance in depth. The MLM2PRO excels at structured, coach-like feedback, telling you what to practise rather than leaving you to interpret the numbers yourself.
If you value customisation and a more professional, analytical experience, Mevo Gen 2 has the edge. If you prefer guided practice and game-style feedback, the MLM2PRO is more engaging, though its best features require a subscription.
We’ll call this a draw.
Score:
- Mevo Gen 2: 3
- MLM2PRO: 3
Battery life
Mevo Gen 2
- 6-hour USB-C rechargeable battery.
MLM2PRO
- 2–4 hours battery life.
Summary:
Mevo Gen 2 is the clear winner here.
Score:
- Mevo Gen 2: 4
- MLM2PRO: 3

Final verdict: Mevo Gen 2 comes out on top
While both devices have their strengths, the Mevo Gen 2 comes out on top overall for performance, value, and long-term usability. Considering the price points once you factor the subscription fee in for the MLM2PRO, it’s clear that the Mevo Gen 2 gives you more for your money.
But that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the right one for you…
Which should I pick?
Ultimately, the right choice depends on what you want from a launch monitor.
The Mevo Gen 2 is best suited to golfers who value accuracy, consistency, and a more complete experience straight out of the box. There are no subscription requirements, and while the upfront cost is higher, you get full functionality without ongoing payments or feature restrictions. If you want deeper performance data and don’t want to deal with subscriptions, it’s the stronger long-term investment.
The MLM2PRO, on the other hand, is a strong option if you prefer automatic swing video capture with no additional setup, along with gamified practice tools and guided insights to structure your training. It’s much more consumer-friendly, so if that’s what you’re after, it may be a better choice than the Mevo Gen 2.
We have close to twenty years of experience in the industry, so if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch. Plus, we stock both the Mevo Gen 2 and the MLM2PRO at competitive prices.
