The FlightScope Mevo Gen2 golf launch monitor and simulator was released in summer 2025, we've tested it extensively so you can see what it's like before you buy. Maybe you're deciding between different launch monitors, or perhaps it's your first step into golf tech so you can really understand your game, or maybe you just want to play simulator golf at home. We have combined our years of golf tech knowledge (nearly 20 years!) with the latest product from FlightScope and tell you all you need to know.
This review is written by a mid-high handicapper with a passion for improvement, and let me tell you since we've managed to get our hands on one I seldom visit the range without it. Simply because I feel lost without the data if I don't use it - and my local range has TopTracer. It moves beyond basic distance data, and even the entry level Gen2 provides data metrics that can really help you see what's happening.

How Does the Mevo Gen2 Work?
The Mevo Gen2 is a radar based golf launch monitor that quietly sits behind you, measures every shot and shows you the numbers on the FS Golf app (compatible with iOS, Android and Windows PC).
It's a portable golf simulator, so its perfect to take between the range, use at home or in the garden. It comes with a carry case which fits into your golf bag.
It's ready to use a golf simulator straight out the box. Once set up on the FS Golf app and registered the device you will receive an activation code for your E6 Connect 8-course package. This is a lifetime license so there is no ongoing subscription costs, unless you choose to upgrade to a subscription or you want to use a different third party software such as GS Pro.
FlightScope Mevo Gen2 Setup Guide
Setting up golf launch monitors is a crucial and often overlooked step, it's important that the set up is correct so the unit can read the shot accurately. So it's time to get the tape measure out, no guessing here please!
Because the Mevo Gen2 is a portable golf launch monitor, it comes with two set ups - one for indoor (or Limited Flight) and one for Outdoor. In both cases the unit should sit 8ft behind the ball - although you can adjust this up to 1ft either way in the app, we would recommend 8ft behind. It's very important that you measure this distance accurately to allow the device to calculate the data accordingly. If for example, the device thinks it's 8ft away but it's actually 7.5ft away it could impact the accuracy of the data.
For indoor ball flight, the more the better really. The 8ft shown below is the minimum distance, however we would recommend 10-12ft of ball flight if possible. This means the unit will be able to read more information from the ball before it hits the net, allowing it provide more accurate data - particularly the spin numbers. Speaking of spin, be sure to use RCT balls or aluminium ball tracking stickers for the most accurate readings (100 stickers are included).

Once you've measured the distances (and feel free to use tape/markers this so you don't need to measure it every time if it's going in the same place), you can go into the FS Golf app and start a new session. This will prompt you to select either Limited Flight or Outdoor mode, set up your radar (distance to ball, distance to screen and tee surface height), align your radar to the target (making sure the target line is matched to the unit), and altitude.
You can enter the radar adjustment mode to confirm the tilt (vertical plane) and roll (horizontal plane) or the unit are in the valid ranges, and you can adjust the tee surface height to tell the device the ball is at a different height than the floor - usually 3 or 4 cm. You can also enter target alignment mode to enable the camera to show you exactly where to position the ball. This view will show you a small hitting area, an image of where it thinks the ball is, and the target line and you can move the ball to position it correctly and make sure the unit is looking down the target line.
Is the FlightScope Mevo Gen2 Accurate?
The FlightScope Mevo Gen2 is designed to deliver reliable ball-tracking data by combining radar with camera-based analysis through FlightScope’s patented Fusion Tracking Technology. By merging 3D Doppler radar with image processing, the device can track the ball immediately after impact while also analysing visual data to refine measurements. This hybrid approach helps improve consistency and reduces the margin of error that can sometimes occur with radar-only systems.
The Mevo Gen2 provides strong accuracy across key ball data metrics such as ball speed, carry distance, launch angle, and spin rate. These are some of the most important numbers golfers rely on when evaluating swing changes or dialing in club distances. The combination of radar tracking and camera-based analysis allows the FlightScope Mevo Gen2 to provide dependable performance for everyday practice and simulator use. Its blend of accuracy, portability, and price makes it one of the best value launch monitors currently available to amateur golfers and home simulator users.
What Data Does the Mevo Gen2 Measure?
The FlightScope Mevo Gen2 golf launch monitor provides 18 key data metrics out of the box. If you're not sure what some of these data metrics are and how they can help your game, then click the links below to our information articles.
- Carry Distance
- Roll Distance
- Total Distance
- Ball Speed
- Club Speed
- Smash Factor
- Vertical Launch Angle
- Horizontal Launch Angle
- Spin Rate
- Spin Axis
- Apex Height
- Flight Time
- Lateral Landing
- Angle of Attack
- Shot Type
- Launch Speed (Putting only)
- Ball Direction (Putting only)

Should I upgrade to the Pro Package and Face Impact Location Bundle?
We would usually recommend upgrading to the Pro Package and Face Impact Location bundle, which are also available as separate software upgrades.
The level of data insight this provides is the same as the tour level launch monitors - FlightScope X3C, TrackMan etc. - but for a fraction of the cost. This makes the Mevo Gen2 incredible value for money and an affordable golf simulator that can be used for coaching sessions or to dial in your numbers and understand your swing in a way you couldn't before.
The Pro Package adds additional data metrics including:
- Face to Path
- Face to Target
- Dynamic Loft
- Club Path
- Vertical Swing Plane
- Horizontal Swing Plane
- Low Point
- Vertical Descent Angle
- Curve
- Club Speed Profile
- Club Acceleration Profile
And the Face Impact Location upgrade looks like this.. no explanation needed there.

How Does the Mevo Gen2 Compare to the Mevo Plus?
The new FlightScope Mevo Gen2 has taken the reigns from the now discontinued FlightScope Mevo Plus golf launch monitor as FlightScope's flagship product. So what's the difference between the two? Well, the short answer is it represents even better value for money than the Mevo Plus did.
The slightly longer answer is that it provides the same accurate data powered by Fusion Tracking Technology with no ongoing subscription costs just like the Mevo Plus.. However, the Mevo Gen2 has a longer battery life (6hrs vs 2-3hrs for the Mevo Plus), charges via the more modern USB C port, and is portrait orientation (where the Mevo Plus was landscape) to allow a slightly higher sight line which provides higher accuracy for chipping and putting in particular. The Gen2 does come with an 8-course E6 Connect package included, where the Mevo Plus included 12-courses, however you can upgrade this if you wish for an additional cost for the lifetime license or with an E6 subscription.
Who is The FlightScope Mevo Gen2 Best For?
Traditionally, FlightScope launch monitors have been aimed at Tour players and coaches, however the Mevo Gen2 makes that high level of data and accuracy available to the average golfer as well as tour players and coaches. It is an affordable, portable golf simulator and launch monitor with a professional feel that really does do it all regardless of player ability.
Potential Drawbacks of the FlightScope Mevo Gen 2
As much as I love the Gen2 as a product, there are a couple of minor points I think could be improved. On opening the box, my first impression was why is the case bigger than I was expecting? And it's because of the charger. Most products today will only supply a charging cable without the plug as it saves space and cost, and they assume you will have the correct plug at home. However, FlightScope also supply the plug with the cable (which we would recommend using and not a random USB C charger you have at home as they can have different voltages and may cause battery/charging issues!) which makes the case larger than it strictly needs to be and therefore takes up a bit more room in your golf bag, although it still fits comfortably.
The other minor gripe is the kickstand on the back of the unit. It's neatly designed but it can be tricky if setting up the unit on grass, for example around the practice green, which can have uneven ground. As a workaround, we would recommend setting up the unit using the inside of the case as a flat platform.

Lastly, and this is a general disadvantage of all radar based units, is that if you intend to use it indoors then the space requirements for the room size is large compared to camera based units, where not everyone has a minimum of 5-6m of room length.
Conclusion - Final Thoughts on the Mevo Gen2
In our opinion, the FlightScope Mevo Gen2 is one of the best portable launch monitors available on the market. The data insights, the portability, the professional feel, the value for money with no ongoing costs. It's not only designed as a golf simulator so you can play golf indoors, it's a performance tool providing professional level, accurate data to consumers. If you're serious about improving your game then look no further.
