What’s the Difference Between the FlightScope Mevo Gen2 and the Mevo Plus?

The FlightScope Mevo Gen2 is the direct successor to the now-discontinued Mevo Plus - and in many ways, it's the better unit. It's built on the same Fusion Tracking Technology, now supports the same Pro Package and Face Impact Location upgrades, and delivers the same pro-grade accuracy - but at a significantly lower price point.

Where the Gen2 improves on the Mevo Plus is in the details: battery life jumps from around 2.5 hours to 6 hours, charging moves from the outdated USB-Mini to USB-C, and the redesigned vertical form factor is slimmer and more portable. You also get an 8-course E6 Connect package and FlightScope Shot Tracer included out of the box - all without a subscription. For golfers who had the Mevo Plus on their shortlist, the Gen2 gives you everything the Plus offered and more, for less.

What Courses Are Included with the FlightScope Mevo Gen2?

Every Mevo Gen2 ships with an 8-course E6 Connect simulator package included in the box - no additional purchase or subscription needed. You’ll get access to some of the most recognisable courses in golf:

  • Kiawah Ocean Course: SC, USA
  • Torrey Pines Golf Course: CA, USA
  • Sea Island Seaside Course: GA, USA
  • Latrobe Country Club: PA, USA
  • Pelican Hill Golf Club: CA, USA
  • Chateau Whistler Golf Club: BC, Canada
  • Valderrama Golf Club: Cádiz, Spain
  • Kapalua Golf Club – Plantation Course: HI, USA

One of the standout features of the FlightScope Mevo Gen2 is the Shot Tracer. It captures your swing on video and overlays a 3D ball trajectory with key data points - giving every practice session, lesson, or club fitting the feel of a live TV golf broadcast. It’s a brilliant tool for sharing your progress and reviewing your shots in detail.

FlightScope Mevo Gen2 FAQs

How much room do I need to use the FlightScope Mevo Gen2 indoors?

You’ll want roughly 16–17 feet of total depth. The Mevo Gen2 sits about 8 feet behind the ball, and you need at least 8–9 feet of ball flight ahead of the hitting position before the net or screen. It’s a compact unit, so it fits comfortably in a garage, basement, or dedicated simulator room without taking up much space.

Do I need to pay a subscription to use the Mevo Gen2?

No - and this is one of the Mevo Gen2’s biggest advantages. All 18 data metrics and the 8-course E6 Connect package are yours from day one, with nothing extra to pay. Some third-party platforms like GSPro or additional E6 course packs carry their own costs, but the core FlightScope Mevo Gen2 experience is completely subscription-free.

How reliable is the FlightScope Mevo Gen2 when hitting into a net?

Indoor accuracy depends on getting your setup right. The Mevo Gen2’s Fusion Tracking system works best when your altitude and barometric pressure are set correctly in the app, and when you’re using metallic dot stickers so the unit can pick up spin data from limited ball flight. Some users also find that running their shots through E6 Connect or GSPro produces more consistent distance readings than the native FlightScope app when indoors. Taking a few minutes to dial in your settings makes a noticeable difference.

Can I use regular golf balls with the Mevo Gen2?

Outdoors, absolutely - the Mevo Gen2’s radar tracks full ball flight, so any ball works well at the range. Indoors, where the ball only travels a few feet before hitting a net, we’d recommend using metallic dot stickers on your balls. These give the Fusion Tracking system the extra information it needs to calculate spin and distance accurately in a short-flight environment.

Any advice for getting the most out of my Mevo Gen2 at home?

A few things make a real difference. First, double-check your altitude and barometric pressure in the FlightScope app - incorrect settings are the most common cause of distance readings feeling “off”. Second, use metallic dot stickers or RCT balls for indoor sessions. Third, keep the area around the unit clear of fans, large reflective surfaces, and strong overhead lighting, as these can interfere with the camera and radar. Finally, make sure Fusion Tracking is switched on in your settings - it’s easy to miss but essential for accurate indoor data.

Is the FlightScope Mevo still available to buy?

The original FlightScope Mevo has been discontinued. Its successor, the FlightScope Mevo Gen2, is a substantial step forward - moving from 8 data metrics to 18, adding Fusion Tracking (radar plus camera), including an E6 Connect simulator package, and introducing the Shot Tracer feature. If you were considering a FlightScope Mevo, the Mevo Gen2 is the current model and delivers far more for a similar investment.
