Most radar based golf launch monitors set up behind the ball (usually a minimum of 7-8ft behind) to have a full view of club and ball throughout the swing. The doppler radar technology pings a signal back and forth from the launch monitor to track the swing of the club, the impact on the ball, and the reaction of the golf ball.
If you intend to use these launch monitors for an indoor golf simulator with limited ball flight, please ensure you have a minimum of 16ft of room space available (8ft behind the ball and 8ft of ball flight). Remember to account for 1ft of space behind the net/impact screen as well so the ball doesn't bounce back at you!
